Your data, handled with care
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 May 2026
I care about your privacy. This page explains what personal data I collect through florislamers.com, why I collect it, and what rights you have under the GDPR.
I value your privacy. This policy explains what personal data I collect through this website (florislamers.com), why I collect it, and what rights you have under the GDPR.
Who is responsible?
Controller: Floris Lamers (Netherlands).
Contact: please use the contact form on this website.
What data I collect
- Data you provide (for example via forms): name, email address, and the content of your message.
- Newsletter subscription data: email address (and, if you choose to provide it, your name).
- Technical data: IP address (in server logs), browser/device information, and basic usage data (for example which pages are visited).
Why I collect data (purposes)
- To respond to messages and requests (for example collaboration, questions, or sheet music requests).
- To send newsletters and updates if you subscribe.
- To keep the website secure and stable (fraud prevention, abuse detection, troubleshooting).
- To understand how the site is used and improve it (analytics).
Legal bases (GDPR)
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)): for sending newsletters and marketing-style updates. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)): for responding to your messages, running analytics to improve the site, and protecting the website against misuse—while respecting your privacy.
- Contract / pre-contractual steps (Art. 6(1)(b)): when your message relates to a possible collaboration or paid work.
Contact form
If you contact me through the contact form, I use your details to reply and to keep necessary context for follow-up. I do not use contact-form messages to add you to a newsletter list unless you explicitly subscribe.
Newsletter
If you subscribe to the newsletter, I store your email address (and any other details you choose to provide) so I can send you occasional updates about new releases, recordings, sheet music, or behind-the-scenes notes. This website uses Icegram (WordPress plugin) to manage subscriptions.
- Unsubscribe: every newsletter should include an unsubscribe option. You can also contact me via the website to request removal.
- Frequency: I aim to keep it low-volume.
Analytics and cookies
This website uses analytics to understand which pages are visited and how the site performs. At the moment this is done via Google Analytics 4 (implemented via a WordPress plugin). Analytics may use cookies or similar technologies.
If you prefer not to be measured, you can block cookies via your browser settings or use browser extensions that limit tracking. Please note this may affect some website functionality.
Who I share data with
I do not sell your personal data. I may share data only with service providers that are necessary to run this website, such as:
- Website hosting and infrastructure providers (to host and secure the site).
- Plugin/service providers used on the site (for example analytics and newsletter tooling).
These providers may process data on my behalf under agreements consistent with the GDPR.
How long I keep your data
- Contact messages: kept as long as needed to respond and maintain reasonable correspondence history, then deleted or anonymised when no longer necessary.
- Newsletter subscriptions: kept until you unsubscribe (or until the newsletter is discontinued and the list is deleted).
- Server logs: typically kept for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.
Security
I take reasonable measures to protect your data. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have rights, including the right to access, correct, delete, and object to certain processing, and (where applicable) the right to data portability and to withdraw consent.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
I may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows the latest update.
